You have motivated me to keep trying

"I've been reading your newsletter, I believe, from the beginning. I partially agree w/your politics, but disagree on some. I do enjoy the health and investment advice. It's very thought provoking. But, I've considered unsubscribing many times because of your flippant comments about making money and starting a business. A couple of paraphrased examples: if you want to build a seven figure net wealth you need to make at least $150,000. If you're only making $50,000 you need to increase your income by $100,000. Another way to seven figures is start a business. Ah, if it were that easy, everyone would do it. Just double your income. Brilliant. I wish I had thought of that. Most people work at jobs that will not double or triple your income no matter how good you are."

If JS had really been reading ETR since the beginning he would know that, although I am sometimes flippant, I am very serious about what it takes to start and create a successful small business. This is something I know as much about as anybody on the planet. And if JS has really been reading ETR all this time he would have read miles of material on how to generate more income...but it all involves working more and working smarter...and most of it does indeed mean that you have to create a second income by consulting or starting a business.

"Everyone always says follow what you love, but sometimes, if you are looking to make money at it, you have to redefine ‘what you love’ along the way.

Three years ago, I left my job in New York City to start my own company. Armed with Early to Rise information on starting your own consulting business, I thought I would take my sales experience selling children’s TV to Asia, and do a reverse business by bringing Japanese animation to the U.S. market (which was booming at the time).

Thanks to lots of good friends in the industry, I was quickly able to land my first series to sell back to Asia. But the most I could make selling one show, based on my 10 percent commission, was about $10,000 per year. I thought, ‘If I can just build the number of series I represent to 10 by the end of the year, I’ll be all set.’

As luck would have it, an old boss landed at one of the top animation production companies. I offered to handle the smaller Asian countries for her on a sublicense basis at 10 percent, and she gladly accepted. All of a sudden, I had 30 series to sell!

She left the company a year later, and I was doing so well the animation company gave me ALL of Asia to sell - and now I’m able to make six figures working from home.

I want to thank Michael and ETR for helping me make the mental leap to running my own business from home. I know I could use some of your other ideas for expanding businesses, but right now I am enjoying the small size of my business and the freedom it gives me to spend time with my 10-year-old son and be a stay-at-home mom (of sorts). It is a win-win.

ETR has certainly made a difference in how I look at life

"I hope soon to be in a position to be able to be generous to my friends and family.
Although I have not had much financial success, I have been able to make small investments here and there. One such investment has the potential of a substantial return - enough that I need not be concerned about working again. The genesis of this investment is specifically to help people who, like myself, are in financial straits and need a helping hand. If it does come to pass, hallelujah. If not, then life simply continues.

No, I haven’t ’spent’ the money yet, but I have given it considerable thought. First, I would pay back those personal loans from family members from whom I’ve borrowed over the past number of years. Next, I want to give back to them. Maybe to move to a better home, pay off their mortgage, or just give them money because I would be in a position to do so.

I also would like to be generous to some of my friends who, although none ever helped me financially, did support me spiritually and emotionally in my all too frequent times of need.
It’s been said that if you loan money to someone who needs it, they will come to resent you. I have no intention of loaning any money to any of my friends or family, but rather to give them some. With my friends, anywhere from $1,000 to $10,000. With my family, I hope to be able to help my son and first-time-pregnant daughter-in-law move into a bigger house, as well as to set up something for my first grandchild. I hope to be able to do something similar for the other members of my family, and I also wish to help one longtime family friend who was hit hard by Hurricane Katrina.

With the right advice (I receive information from ETR as well as other Agora publications), I feel that all of this will be possible, and still have more than enough remaining for me finally to have the time/freedom to do what I really wish.

When Michael Masterson published his book for grads ... I just had to buy it for my daughter.

"My daughter read Automatic Wealth: The Six Steps to Financial Independence and loved it! (Even though she said Mr. Masterson sounded too arrogant. I told her he was only giving out advice that worked for him to build his own wealth.)

So ... when Michael Masterson published Automatic Wealth for Grads…and Anyone Else Just Starting Out, I just had to buy it for my daughter. I gave it to her for her 19th birthday, a couple of days ago, and she told me last night that she was getting more out of this book than the first one.

I have to admit that I snuck a peek at her book before I gave it to her. I thought it had more detailed information than the original version. Masterson breaks down his information in easy-to-follow steps and descriptions. Now I will have to buy it for my own library!".
